What to do in an emergency

In an immediate emergency in Finland, call 112. State what happened, where you are and who needs help. Follow the operator's instructions. Contact the host parents as soon as safely possible. Before caring for children alone, know the home address, parents' numbers, backup contact, allergies, medical conditions and where basic first-aid supplies are kept. An au pair course does not replace first-aid training. The host family should arrange practical orientation for the home, neighbourhood and emergency procedures.
